Boy have I dropped the ball on staying caught up with all that is happening in our classroom! Don't let the lack of post mislead you because we sure have been busy! Here are a few things that we have been learning...
Michael Anthony Steele
We were so lucky to have a visit from the author Michael Anthony Steele! First he taught us about the metaphor 'wearing many different hats', we learned it doesn't necessarily mean actually wearing different hats, but instead doing many different jobs. Lucky for us, Mr. Steel made his background a fun adventure where each job really did have him wearing a different hat, from his large hat collection! When he came across something he was interested in, he told himself four special words: "I CAN DO THAT!" He gave us a challenge, when we come up on a new adventure, we need to remember these four words and we can do anything!
We are... METEOROLOGISTS.
Throughout our weather unit we were able to conduct several experiments to see different types of weather at a smaller scale. Our imaginations ran us onto other types of weather that weren't planned but were fun to learn about since we never have here in Brush.
Next we made it rain. We learned any kind of water vapor in the air is called precipitation, the temperature of the air is what changes it from rain into ice crystals, hail or sleet. First we had a rain cloud, as we added more and more "precipitation" to our clouds, the clouds became heavier. Once the cloud could no longer hold any more, it began to release our "precipitation" and we watched our rain fall. |
Inside Recess.. No Worries
With all of the weather talk, we sure have had some colder weather in our neck of the woods. Since we are unable to enjoy some time outside, we have been taking part in some brain breaks. Here are a few pictures :)
