"Help!" Stanley cried out one morning when he woke up with a bulletin board on top of him. Luckily Stanley was not hurt when his parents came to the rescue him, except for being FLAT! Stanley had to learn to do things a little different as a flat person but he found some of the advantages, like going to visit his friend in California traveling through the mail!
We decided to try this out for ourselves! We have created flat versions of ourselves to send out to different places in our state, country and even a few of us are traveling off of our continent. We are off on our way but we are sure excited to return and learn all about the places we have traveled. We have recently finished our inquiry research project on penguins. We started by researching all we could about our specific penguin using magazines, books, articles and our favorite, Chrome books! We spent some time organizing all the facts we collected into topics we could later write about. For there we revisited what we knew about nonfiction text to create one of our own. Using the same method we used in our 'Expert Books' writing unit, we created Penguin Reports. This was a long project that students worked very hard on. At the end we needed to celebrate with some special treats. :)
